Here are 4 home remedies for the early stages of gum disease in Norwood.<\/p>\n

1. Salt Water Treatment<\/h2>\n

Salt water can help reduce the bacteria that cause gingivitis; it can also soothe inflamed gums and assist with the healing process. Mix about half a teaspoon of salt into lukewarm water before swishing it in your mouth for about 30 seconds; be sure to spit it out afterwards. This treatment can be done two or three times a day.<\/p>\n

2. Mouthwash<\/h2>\n

If salt water doesn\u2019t work, you can make your own mouthwash. Two or three drops of diluted lemongrass oil mixed with water can reduce plaque levels while a solution of tea tree oil and water can help treat gingival bleeding. Aloe vera juice is also effective. Similar to salt water, these types of mouthwash should be used for 30 seconds two or three times a day.<\/p>\n

3. Oil Pulling<\/h2>\n

Swishing a couple of teaspoons of coconut oil or arimedadi oil can be a great way to get rid of bacteria. Unlike the previous methods, oil pulling is best done for 20 or 30 minutes at a time. Coconut oil may also help freshen your breath and clear your sinuses.<\/p>\n

4. Topical Treatment<\/h2>\n

Turmeric gel has anti-inflammatory properties that make it well-suited for treating gingivitis. You can apply it after brushing your teeth and rinsing. Let it sit for about 10 minutes before swishing some water in your mouth to rinse it out. This can be done twice a day.<\/p>\n

Bear in mind that while these treatments can help reduce symptoms, your dentist can provide a more thorough cleaning<\/a> to help reverse the damage. If home remedies prove ineffective, you should make an appointment as soon as possible. And remember: the best treatment for gingivitis is prevention, so keep brushing and flossing daily!<\/p>\n
